A Life of Love in Union
with Christ
The Sisters Apostles of the descent of the Holy Spirit live out a spirit of praise and gratitude, sharing and service, following the example of the early Christian community, which was transformed by the coming of the Holy Spirit at Pentecost. Their mission is to be a catalyst that rekindles the meaning of Pentecost in today’s world. (Acts 2:4, 32-37) [Refer to Constitution Article 1, Section 1]
The congregation seeks to revive the power of Pentecost because it was the miracle, the wind, the fire, and the spiritual strength of the Holy Spirit that transformed the apostles and empowered them to accomplish extraordinary works. In the same way, the Church today can only be renewed through the power of the Holy Spirit. Following the example of the apostles, who gathered in prayer with the Blessed Mother in the Upper Room as they awaited the Holy Spirit, the members of the congregation commit themselves to fervent prayer for a new outpouring of the Spirit. (Acts 1:14)
Praise and Gratitude, Sharing and Service
Just as the early apostles, strengthened by the Holy Spirit, boldly proclaimed the Gospel and led many into a new life in Christ, the Sisters Apostles of the descent of the Holy Spirit dedicate themselves to God’s mission of salvation for all people. They strive to bring forth God’s Kingdom on earth by living lives of praise, gratitude, service, and love, praying and working for the renewal of the Church. (Refer to Constitution Article 2, Section 1)
As those chosen by God, the members strive to embody compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience, renewing their hearts to love and support one another. Their spirituality is deeply rooted in Scripture meditation and sharing, a Eucharist-centered life, and the joyful singing of psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs in praise of God. (Colossians 3:12-17) [Refer to Constitution Article 3, Section 1]
The brown habit, a symbol of service, reflects the simple garments worn by medieval servants. It represents the humility and love of Father Hyginus Oh Soo Young, the founding priest, who dedicated his life to serving the poor and spreading the message of God’s Kingdom.
